Growth in organics

The UK market for organic food and drink is now valued at £1.9bn, up from £1.1bn in 2002, according to RTS Research and it would appear that there is still significant potential as organic food and drink currently accounts for only 1.3% all food and drink sales by value.
However, in the short term, the future of UK organic market is increasingly in the hands of the prevailing economy.
Although many organic food purchasers may be “financially insulated” from any economic downturn, there will be others who will see organic foods as an expensive luxury when rising bills have to be paid.
