Prepared meat & poultry in Western Europe

Total expenditure on Prepared Meat and Poultry in the UK in 2005 was €17.7bn compared to €15.6bn in Germany and €9.7bn in France.
France and the UK have seen the greatest growth over the past five years but in all countries there has been an increase in the convenience food sector with cooked and sliced meats dominating the market.
Growth in demand for Prepared Meat & Poultry is forecast in both volume and value terms to 2010 within each country as this segment continues to develop further driven by demand for sandwiches, vegetarian foods and other snack products. With expenditure in the UK forecast to grow at a rate of 1.6% per year to 2010, France 1.1% and Germany 1.0%.
