What are sweeteners?







Sweeteners are classified in two groups: bulk – primarily used in confectionery – and intense – mainly used in soft drinks. Well-known sweeteners include Xylitol and Sorbitol.


What is the market worth globally?







According to RTS research, 712,554 tonnes of sweeteners were used globally in 2008 (including both bulk and intense sweeteners). The total global market value was $1,757m.

 


Will the market grow?


The global market industrial usage is expected to rise to 878,417 tonnes by 2013, with the value of the market rising to $2,157m.
